ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Customs officers of the Russian Kuibyshevo border checkpoint in the southern Rostov region have been evacuated due to armed clashes in the neighbouring Ukrainian territory, the spokesman of the Southern Customs Department Rayan Farukshin told ITAR-TASS on Thursday.

“At about 17.00 Moscow time (13.00 UST) officers of the customs office at the multi-way automobile checkpoint Kuibyshevo had to evacuate due to fresh military actions in the Ukrainian territory,” Farukhshin said.

“Four shells blew up at a distance of about 200 meters from the checkpoint,” he said without specifying where it happened and whether they had landed in the Russian territory.

According to preliminary reports, the checkpoint was not damaged.

On Wednesday two wounded Ukrainian servicemen were handed over to Russian medics via the Kuibyshevo checkpoint and were later delivered to hospitals in a grave condition.
