MOSCOW, July 17. /ITAR-TASS/. A population census will be held in the Crimean Federal District in the fourth quarter of 2014, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a resolution to this effect on Thursday.

“This is an important event,” the prime minister said at a government meeting, adding that the latest census was held in the region 15 years ago.

“The latest census was held back under previous authorities, it was held quite a long time ago, around 15 years ago, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge for this period of time,” Medvedev said, noting that “And we are even unaware of criteria on which this census was conducted. “Therefore, available information about residents in Crimea (Russian Republic) and the city of Sevastopol (Russian federal city) does not reflect the real situation, socio-demographic indicators,” the prime minister said with regret.

The main results of population census in the Crimean Federal District will be summed up before May 1, 2015. “After the complete census with full coverage of all local residents, including servicemen of Russian Black Sea Fleet, we will have up-to-date and reliable information in all settlements for these new federal constituent entities before May 1, 2015,” the prime minister noted.
