Another person wounded in Moscow metro crash dies in hospital

MOSCOW, July 16. /ITAR-TASS/. One of the injured in the Moscow metro accident has died in the 31st hospital. A hospital’s representative reported this on Wednesday.

“One patient that was in an extremely severe condition has died today in intensive care,” the representative said at a teleconference in the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Thus, the death toll of the accident that occurred on Tuesday on the blue line of the Moscow subway has reached 23.

 

What is known about the injured

According to the physicians, over the past 24 hours, 18 patients were admitted to the N.V.Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Medicine, 12 of them were hospitalized, while another six were provided medical aid outpatiently. “To date, eight injured are in intensive care. Four of them underwent surgery. Today, several people will be transferred from intensive care, and the situation will change by the evening,” the institute’s representative said.

The physicians also stressed that there was no need in additional help. They noted that they were provided with “everything to the fullest extent”

According to reports coming from the clinical hospital No.31, 12 people were brought there, one of them left and 11 were hospitalized. “Three of them are in critical condition, one – in an extremely severe condition. One of the patients is in a stable critical condition in intensive care. One of the injured that was in an extremely grave condition unfortunately died.”

 

The tragedy in Moscow metro

July 15, in the morning rush hour, a major accident occurred in the tunnel between the Slavyanskiy Bulvar and Park Pobedy metro stations.

The first messages about the accident came at about 09:00. The Emergencies Ministry reported that the train has urgently stopped and three cars of the train that was moving at the speed of 70 kmph derailed. Soon after the accident, the traffic on the line that links the city’s downtown with the western part was stopped, and part of the passengers managed to get out of the train by themselves and get to the stations.

According to latest reports, more than 200 people were injured in the metro train crash, and 23 died.
