MOSCOW, July 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Residents of 12 Russian regions and nationals of five states were injured in the deadly accident in the Moscow subway that occurred on Tuesday, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said live on Rossiya 24 television channel.

The vice-premier noted that there were Ukrainian, Moldovan, Tajik, Uzbek and Kyrgyz citizens among the injured.

“It is a huge disaster for all of us,” Golodets said. “Medical assistance is being rendered to all who are in hospitals today. Medications are available. Doctors conduct all necessary operations to put people on their feet.”

She said medical assistance will be provided as required to anyone regardless of citizenship or place of residence.

Recently, more than eight people have been discharged from hospital. “Unfortunately, traumas are very severe. Many people should go through multiple surgeries,” she said.

Physicians “note ruptures of internals, serious injuries, concussion and many craniocerebral traumas”, Golodets said.

She considered the work of doctors as “excellent”. “Eight helicopters and 141 ambulances were involved to provide assistance to people,” she said.

Two foreigners have died in the accident, the head of the Moscow healthcare department has reported earlier. "One Tajik citizen and one Chinese citizens have been identified," head of the city’s health department Georgy Golukhov said.

A total of 139 people out of more than 160 injured as a result of a deadly accident in the Moscow subway are in the Russian capital’s hospitals, 42 of them are in intensive care, Georgy Golukhov told journalists.

“There are more than 160 injured, 139 people are currently in hospitals, out of them seven have been admitted in the past three hours,” Golukhov said.

At least 21 people were killed in the tragic accident that took place at 8:39 a.m. Moscow time (4:39 UTC) on Tuesday on the stretch of the west-bound "blue" line of the tremendous Russian capital’s metro network between the Park Pobedy and Slavyanskiy Bulvar stations.

Golukhov said one woman died when being admitted to a hospital. “She was brought in an extremely serious condition and she died on the operating table,” he said.

A total of 79 Muscovites are among those injured; others are residents of other cities and towns.

Seventeen people of those killed in Tuesday’s deadly accident in the Moscow subway have been identified, Deputy Moscow Mayor Leonid Pechatnikov said.

The rapidly moving train crashed entrapping all of its passengers in the underground tunnel after three of its cars derailed due to reasons that investigators have yet to establish.

The movement of trains along the “blue” line of the Moscow subway, where a deadly accident occurred earlier on Tuesday will be restored in 10-12 hours, a deputy Moscow mayor said.

“Investigators keep working on the site. A few metro cars have already been removed from the tunnel. The train services may be restored within 10-12 hours,” Maksim Liksutov told journalists.
