Maritime authorities offer to Ukrainian refugees jobs, housing, medical aid
VLADIVOSTOK, July 12, /ITAR-TASS/. In Russia’s Maritime Territory, 19 of 37 municipal authorities are ready to welcome refugees from Ukraine.
The region’s six cities and 13 municipal districts offer both jobs and housing, said participants in a seminar on settlement of the legal status and organisation of complex assistance to Ukraine’s citizens. The event was organised in Vladivostok’s Migration Centre.
Head of the social protection department at the Maritime Territory’s administration Liliya Lavrentyeva says the authorities have opened branches of the Migration Service in all municipal settlements to help most effectively those coming from Ukraine to process their documents. Formerly, refugees had to go to Vladivostok to prepare all the papers.
Ukrainian citizens, who choose to come to the Maritime Territory, will receive guaranteed medical assistance, regardless of whether they have medical insurance or not.
The region is ready to welcome refugees from Ukraine, though it is not likely many of them will be prepared to travel to the distanced region. The authorities have prepared temporary accommodation for 100 people, and additional facilities may be organised in local schools.
“The Maritime has 70,000 jobs to offer,” the administration’s official said. “At some jobs, employers are ready to offer housing.”
Presently, in the Maritime territory remain 1,541 people, who had to leave Ukraine, where 500 people had already addressed the Migration Service with various requests. Most Ukrainians apply for a temporary residential status and for work permits. As yet only three Ukrainians have applied for the status of refugees, 14 - for temporary shelter, 37 - for Russian citizenship. Over one hundred citizens of Ukraine have joined the regional programme of compatriots’ resettlement.
