Putin arrives in Havana on official visit
HAVANA, July 11. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Cuba on an official visit.
Putin will have talks with leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and Cuban President Raul Castro. A package of documents is planning to be signed after the talks.
Putin is also expected to lay wreaths at the Memorial to the Soviet Internationalist Soldier and to the monument of Jose Marti, Cuba’s national hero.
This is the Russian president’s second visit to Cuba. Earlier, he visited the Island of Freedom in December 2000.
Havana will be the first stopover of Putin’s Latin America tour. Upon completion of the visit to Cuba he will leave for Buenos Aires for talks with the Argentine leadership. Putin will visit Rio de Janeiro to attend the closing ceremony of 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and take up the baton of 2018 World Cup in Russia. The Russian president will hold talks with Brazil’s leadership and the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit in Fortaleza.
