A shell fired from the side of Ukraine damaged the transport station building, where customs operations take place

ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 11. /ITAR-TASS/. The Gukovo border checkpoint was hit by yet another Ukrainian shell. The transport station was damaged. The incident occurred at about 17:30 Moscow time on Thursday, the head of the press service of the Southern Customs Department, Rayan Farukshin, told ITAR-TASS.

A shell fired from the side of Ukraine damaged the transport station building, where customs operations take place. It left a hole in the glass dome roof. The super firm glass did not shatter, but cracked, Farukshin said.

“At about 2:10 p.m. [10:10 UTC], the customs personnel was evacuated after five mines exploded near the checkpoint. It is not clear on which side of the border the blasts occurred,” the spokesman said.

The incident took place when a group of customs officers was heading to inspect the auto transport control area damaged on Thursday by a Ukrainian shell.

“Blasts were heard, the area was filled with debris and all those who were there left the territory,” the spokesman said.

Nobody was hurt. The customs station was being examined to determine whether it could continue working.
