ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 11. /ITAR-TASS/. The number of Ukrainian refugees in Russia’s Rostov region has exceeded 26,000, almost one-third of them are children, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s (EMERCOM) main department for the region reported on Friday.

“A total of 26,034 people have been received, including 9,399 children and 236 persons with disabilities. Forty-three temporary accommodation centres have given shelter to 3,115 people and 1,155 people have been accommodated at four tent camps. The rest 21,769 people have put up at their relatives and friends,” the department said.

According to EMERCOM, 873 people have been accommodated in the Rostov region over the past day, and a total of 324 people were transported by motor transport to Volgograd, Krasnodar Krai and to the Leningrad region. An Ilyushin Il-76 plane has taken 129 people to Mineralnye Vody.

A state of emergency was declared in six Russian regions due to major inflow of refugees from Ukraine. Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladimir Artamonov said this on Thursday.

About 500 people from southeastern Ukraine want to move to the Far East, Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladimir Artamonov added.

According to the Federal Migration Service, about 480,000 Ukrainians are in Russia. This year, 2,5 million Ukrainian citizens have arrived in Russia, two million have returned back, and about 480,000 have remained in Russia.
