Russia to continue training personnel for CIS security services

Russian president said that Russia would take into account the needs and wishes of the CIS states

MOSCOW, July 10. /ITAR-TASS/.Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia would continue training personnel for security services in the Commonwealth of Independent States CIS member states.

“We continue helping our friends from the CIS states to train personnel for special and security services. I want to reassure you that we will do so in the future,” he said at a meeting with chiefs of security services from the CIS states.

He added that Russia would take into account the needs and wishes of the CIS states.

The president noted that CIS security services faced a broad range of complex tasks to ensure foreign security and domestic stability and to combat drug trafficking, trans-border crime, illegal migration and terrorism. “We live in the times of changes, they are always characteristic of quite high tension,” Putin noted.

He noted that joint work in security could be done “realising that it can be effective only if efforts are pooled.”

 

EEU and CIS

The Eurasian Economic Union creates additional opportunities for cooperation in economic security sphere among security and intelligence services from the Commonwealth of Independent States, says Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“The Eurasian Economic Union comes into operation from January 1, 2015, which creates additional opportunities for joint activities in many spheres, including economic security,” Putin said.

“We hope you will also contribute to this joint work,” he said.
