Emergency situation declared in Russian city due to flow of Ukrainian refugees
An operational headquarters has been set up to coordinate efforts of all city agencies and regional branches of the federal agencies
PYATIGORSK, July 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Authorities in the city of Pyatigorsk, the capital of Russia's North Caucasian Federal District, declared a regime of the emergency situation, as the area is anticipating a mass arrival of Ukrainian refugees.
"The city commission on emergency situations adopted this decision at its Wednesday’s meeting,” the press service of the mayor’s office said.
An operational headquarters has been set up to coordinate efforts of all city agencies and regional branches of the federal agencies. A temporary accommodation facility for Ukrainian refugees, who are fleeing the area of the armed conflict in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, is being put up in the city and the center for humanitarian aid has been opened, the mayor’s office said.
The regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) said that on Wednesday an EMERCOM aircraft carrying aboard 120 forced migrants from Ukraine landed at the airport in the city of Mineralnye Vody. One hundred of them are to reside at a temporary shelter and the other twenty will be accommodated in the village of Yutsa in the Predgorny district.
