Moscow court arrests Ukraine interior minister in absentia on murder charges

MOSCOW, July 09. /ITAR-TASS/. Moscow court has arrested in absentia parliament-appointed Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov on Wednesday. In Russia he is accused of masterminding murders, use of banned ways and methods of warfare, obstruction to journalists’ activity and abductions. The guilty evidence against Avakov suspected of being involved in crimes in southeast Ukraine is confirmed by witnesses’ testimony.

More than six thousand people were interrogated, including people in Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics. Detectives were questioning people fleeing to Rostov-on-Don region, Russian Republic of Crimea, Belgorod, Voronezh, Bryansk and Kursk regions from Ukraine. Around three thousand people were found as injured parties, spokesman of Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.

A similar criminal case was filed against parliament-appointed Governor in central Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk Region Ihor Kolomoysky. Russia put him together with Avakov on international wanted list on June 21.

Armed members of Ukrainian National Guard and Right Sector gunmen also participated in illegal actions.
