Sixty five foreign reporters have seen damages from shelling on the checkpoint of Novoshakhtinsk on the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The official showed the damages on buildings and the territory of the checkpoint, which was under fire on June 3 and July 6 and 7. Artillery shells and mortar rounds hit a water tower, a duty-free store, a transport examination station and a road.

It was the busiest checkpoint in the Rostov region, where up to 7,000 people and 1,000 units of transport crossed the border, Smyk noted.

Since June 30, Novoshakhtinsk has not worked because the checkpoint on the other side is closed.

Reporters from 30 foreign media arrived in the Rostov region on the initiative of the association of foreign correspondents accredited in Russia to find out what was in areas near the Ukrainian border. They will also see a temporary accommodation centre in the Krasny Sulin district and the Donskoi sanatorium in Novocherkassk where Ukrainian refugees are accommodated.
