Attacked border checkpoint resumes work in southern Russia

ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Operations have resumed at southern Russia's Donetsk traffic checkpoint, fired on by Ukrainian forces from across the border on July 4, customs service spokesman Rayn Farukshin told ITAR-TASS.

Russia's Ministry for Emergency Situations says 952 refugees had crossed from Ukraine into Rostov region during the course of 24 hours. This brings the number of those fleeing the conflict in Ukraine to 23,845, of which 8,857 were children.

Over the past day, Russia’s emergencies ministry (EMERCOM) has organised seven more temporary accommodation facilities for refugees coming in from Ukraine. Over 18,000 Ukrainian refugees stay in Russia.
