Large-scale Black Sea Fleet naval exercises involving about 20 warships and vessels, more than 20 warplanes and helicopters

MOSCOW, July 07. /ITAR-TASS/. Warships of Russian Black Sea Fleet has successfully hit a complex target at naval drills to the southwest of Tarkhankut Cape, the press service of Russian Defense Ministry reported on Monday.

The target imitated a convoy of enemy’s warships. Missile-carrying warship Samum, small missile-carrying warship Shtil and two missile motorboats conducted joint missile fire drills.

Different types of surface targets were used to mark imaginary enemy’s warships.

Warplanes Sukhoi Su-24 of maritime aviation from a naval base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet which drills bombings of surface warships participated in a strike on a sophisticated target position.

Large-scale Black Sea Fleet naval exercises involving about 20 warships and vessels, more than 20 warplanes and helicopters, marines and coastal artillery guns began on July 4. The area of war games embraces the whole sea area of the Black Sea.

Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Admiral Alexander Vitko is in command of naval exercises.

It was reported earlier that a grouping of NATO warships had entered the Black Sea to participate in international naval exercises Breeze 2014 off Bulgarian coast.
