Caucasus Muslim Board calls for end to armed hostilities during Ramadan
“There should be no those among us who reject the ideas of brotherhood and friendship and who support the murderers and abusers who spill other people’s blood,” the Board says
MOSCOW, July 02. /ITAR-TASS/. The Caucasus Muslim Board on Wednesday, July 2, called for a stop to the war in the Middle East during the holy month of Ramadan.
“In connection with the holy month of Ramadan we believe it extremely important to establish peace and security in the places of tension in the Muslim world -Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Palestine and so on, put an immediate stop to all armed hostilities and terrorist acts there, and preserve their monuments and places of worship that are of great historical and religious value,” the Board said in a statement.
It said that the Muslims “have been angered by the disrespectful and aggressive attitude towards the holy places of religions” and “call on the international community not to remain indifferent to the tragedy unfolding in the Middle East for the sake of the planet’s well-being, stability, and inter-and intra-confessional peace”.
The authors of the message warned the Muslims around the world against sidetracking from the main postulates of Islam, a religion of peace, and asked them “not to give in to provocations and remain true to the high moral ideals of our religion”.
“There should be no those among us who reject the ideas of brotherhood and friendship and who support the murderers and abusers who spill other people’s blood,” the Board said.
Fasting during the month of Ramadan (to last until July 27) is the duty of each adult Muslim. During the fasting they are to refrain from food, water and smoking during the day and are to do acts of mercy, pray and read the Koran.
