MOSCOW, July 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Planners have unveiled a blueprint for an 83,000 square metre technology site at the Volga river city of Kazan. It is proposed under a government initiative to develop the nation's military-industrial complex, components manufacture and radio-electronics.

The project seeks start-up investment of 10.6 billion roubles (nearly $310 million) to establish a design bureau, centres of advanced development and serial manufacturing capacity.

Proposals have been announced by a subsidiary of Russian state corporation Rostec, set up to promote development, production and export of hi-tech industrial products for civil and defense sectors.

Radio-Electronic Technologies has launched its plan for a technology complex opening by 2018 and running into profit in five years, according to a company announcement.

“An industrial cluster in Kazan is one of our most ambitious projects. It will require considerable investment but will entirely pay off in five years and become profitable,” company director general Nikolay Kolesov said in a news release. Location output is expected to build to 18 billion roubles (nearly $526 million) in value by 2020.

“The dual purpose of the tech park suggests that its services and facilities will be available for private companies producing hi-tech civil products, in particular to develop complex and individual information solutions for the protection of people as well as transport, energy, residential and industrial objects,” the company said.

Radio-Electronic Technologies was launched in 2009. It groups 97 facilities specialising in the development and production of avionics for combat and civil aviation, air-launched radar stations, electronic combat complexes and friend-or-foe identification technology.
