SIMFEROPOL, June 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Airport of the Crimean capital Simferopol is ready to service international flights, its director, Yevgeny Plaksin, told ITAR-TASS.

“The airport is ready for this and we don’t have any problems,” he said. “The border control section is functioning and we have the necessary staff and are fully fitted out with equipment. If one or another airline decides to make international flights to and from here, we’re prepared to work on this and we’ll be glad to do it, actually.”

Two airlines, Urals Airlines and Grozny Avia have already filed applications with the Federal Service for Civil Aviation, Rosaviatsiya, for permissions to make international flights.

For instance, the Urals Airlines plans to make five flights as week from Simferopol to Baku, Yerevan, Tashkent, and Hujand (Tajikistan).

Grozny Avia’s flight program includes flights twice a week to Yerevan and Antalya and daily flights to Istanbul.

Rosaviatsiya has given positive answers to all the applications. “Issuance of permission is possible,” its answers read.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a resolution on opening the Simferopol airport for international flights May 7. At this moment, the airport is servicing 55 inbound and outbound flights a day.
