Three Ukrainian rounds of ammunition land on Russian territory
The multi-way automobile border crossing point Gukovo (Chervonopartizansk on the side of Ukraine) was damaged as a result
ROSTOV-ON-DON, June 28. /ITAR-TASS/. Three Ukrainian rounds of ammunition landed on the territory of the Russian Federation in the southern Rostov Region, the head of the Russian Federal Security Service’s (FSB) regional border department, Vasily Malayev, said Saturday.
The multi-way automobile border crossing point Gukovo (Chervonopartizansk on the side of Ukraine) was damaged as a result.
“Facts of ammunition rounds striking Russian territory are still registered. Today, one round hit the Gukovo point, one exploded in the inhabited locality of Vasetsky and another one in the Shakhta-24 locality,” Malayev said.
He added that no civilians or border-crossing point officials were injured.
Hundreds of people, including civilians, have been killed, buildings have been destroyed and damaged and tens of thousands have been forced to cross the border from Ukraine to Russia as a result of Kiev’s military operation against federalization supporters in Ukraine’s south-east involving armored vehicles, heavy artillery and attack aviation.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko early on Saturday decided to extend by three days a weeklong ceasefire in Ukraine’s embattled south-east.
Poroshenko announced the ceasefire on June 20. Militias agreed to it a few days later. However, there have been numerous reports that the truce has been violated.
