MOSCOW, June 26. /ITAR-TASS/. More than 95,000 Ukrainian citizens have sought refugee status, asylum, residency or temporary accommodation in Russia, the Federal Migration Service said on Thursday.
The size of the unfolding problem is evident in latest statistics from officials in Russia's Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine.
Displaced people fleeing there number between 8,000 and 10,000 daily, say those handling the emergency.
Deputy regional governor Elena Batanova said migrants were accommodated in college dormitories, hotels and buildings of public organisations.
Three daily meals were provided alongside medical care, she said.Currently there are 271 temporary accommodation facilities for refugees around the country.
