MOSCOW, June 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Speaker of Russia’s State Duma Sergei Naryshkin has called for holding a special international conference on Ukraine.

“It is evident that the crisis in Ukraine can be resolved with the world’s participation,” Naryshkin said on Monday.

“In several days the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly will be opened in Baku. Russia will put forth an initiative on creating a contact group for Ukraine,” he said.

“I believe that it is rather convenient to raise the question for organizing the special international conference on Ukraine,” Naryshkin said.

Commenting on the situation in the neighboring state, he said, “Recently new President Petro Poroshenko has been elected. The civil war continues in the southeast. The authorities use heavy armament and aviation against militia, peaceful civilians and civilian facilities. People die every day.”

“We warned that under such conditions it was impossible to start a real national dialogue that three ‘roundtables’ could not replace,” Naryshkin said.

“The tragedy in Odessa and other crimes have not been investigated. No one hurries to put on trial guilty persons,” he said.

“Finally, the authorities continue persecutions for political motives. The opposition members are arrested and tortured. Unfortunately, Russian journalists are killed and our diplomatic missions are attacked,” Naryshkin said.

“Of course, the world community should seriously think and create new platforms and instruments for preserving the institutions of international law and the global security architecture,” he said.
