MOSCOW, June 23. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin urged to invite more actively leading foreign scientists to teach at technological faculties of Russian higher educational establishments.

The Presidential Council for Science and Education proposed at its meeting on Monday to focus larger on practical studies and scientific research in education of engineers.

“It is needed to invite more actively leading scientists, specialists, practical experts from abroad to teach at our technical faculties,” the president added. In this regard, he named positive implementation of a program of mega-grants for Russian students, young teachers and post-graduate students who received an opportunity to be studied directly by world prominent scientists, including Russian compatriots working at foreign universities and scientific centres. “The results are good, according to the model of mega-grants (provided under the program) 160 scientific laboratories had already been created, tangible scientific results had been achieved as well,” Putin noted.

At the council’s meeting Putin also raised several other issues for support to future engineers. Notably, he recalled about his instruction to organise an annual all-Russia contest of students and post-graduate students who learn specialities in engineering. “I hope that this instruction is being fulfilled and we will witness its results soon. It is also needed to think over other types of support to student projects and contests,” Putin added.
