SIMFEREPOL, June 20, /ITAR-TASS/. Crimea, a former Ukrainian region that reunified with Russia in March, has put up 39 temporary accommodation centres in the Black Sea peninsula’s cities of Alushta, Yevpatoria, Kerch and in the Saki region for refugees fleeing Ukraine’s embattled south-east, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s (EMERCOM) regional department said on Friday.

“Today the suburban village of Mirnoye near [Crimea’s capital] Simferopol has opened a temporary camp for 1,500 people,” it said. “It offers a reception office, a shower, beds, recreation places, field kitchens and a medical facility. EMERCOM officials are providing psychological assistance for and giving information to people in need.”

Mobile crews of EMERCOM psychologists meet the people forced to leave Ukraine at the two border refugee filtration centres - at the Chongar border checkpoint in the Dzhankoi region and in the town of Armyansk - for their further accommodation in the peninsula.

“The number of registered forced migrants in Crimea totals 4,726, including 2,468 children,” the press service said. “Overall, 325 people, including 218 children, sought medical help and 63 refugees, with 43 children out of them, were taken to hospital.”

The Russian Emergencies Ministry engaged 45 staff and seven vehicles for accommodating refugees in Crimea. Besides, 120 tonnes of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees were airlifted on three Ilyushin Il-76 jets to the Rostov region and Crimea on Friday.
