YEKATERINBURG, June 17./ITAR-TASS/. Defense-related enterprises in Russia’s Urals Yekaterinburg region are getting prepared to switch to the use of domestically manufactured components in the production of military hardware, instead of those imported from Ukraine, Sverdlovsk region governor Yevgeny Kuivashev told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday.

“We have 52 enterprises that have cooperation links with Ukrainian partners, but it does not mean that there is nothing to replace Ukrainian-manufactured units and components with,” he said. “We can find a new partner that would make these or those items.”

“We can place orders for analogues with other companies, we have possibilities to develop cooperation inside the country. We have discussed this issue at a meeting of the board of chief designers,” he noted, however refraining from further details.

According to the regional government, the plant Uralelectromash (Kamensk-Uralsky, Sverdlovsk region) is ready to supply the world’s biggest tank manufacturer, Uralvagonzavod, with more than 300 starter generators to substitute for Ukrainian-made units already in 2014. Uralelctromash plans to increase supplies of starter generator up to 1,000.
