PARIS, June 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s state-of-the-art heavy armaments (the Armata tank platform and the Koalitsiya (Coalition) self-propelled artillery system) will be presented to the public for the first time at the Victory Day Parade in Moscow on May 9, 2015 that will be held in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II.

Work to build first batches of promising heavy combat platforms are proceeding ahead of schedule, Russian machine-building company Uralvagonzavod director-general Oleg Siyenko told journalists at the Eurosatory 2014 defense and security exhibition currently underway in the French capital Paris.

Siyenko said all characteristics of new systems outlined in the Russian Defense Ministry’s requirement specification have been confirmed during tests.

The Armata tank was built by Uralvagonzavod specialists on a unified heavy platform. There are also plans to use the platform to create an infantry combat vehicle, a heavy armored personnel carrier, a tank support combat vehicle and an armored maintenance and evacuation vehicle.

The tank will have a remote-controlled gun (unmanned turret) with all-digital control, and the crew will operate it from an isolated armored capsule.

The self-propelled artillery system 2S35 Koalitsiya-SV (Coalition) has two 152-mm barrels; the export modification will have a 155-mm caliber barrel.

Joint work with Russia’s Defense Ministry was conducted to organize serial production of the Koalitsiya-SV at the Uraltransmash plant, an Uralvagonzavod subsidiary ahead of schedule, before research and development work has been completed
