MOSCOW, June 09./ITAR-TASS/. ATOMEXPO-2014 international forum on nuclear energy opens in Moscow on Monday.

The event’s main topic is energy stability in the nuclear energy.

Head of Russia’s nuclear energy authority Rosatom Sergei Kiriyenko said in an address to the participants, “the nuclear energy nowadays is a compulsory condition for stable and secure work of the international energy system.”

“It has special importance for countries with rapidly growing economies, as most of them experience lacks of energy resources,” he said.

The plenary session will feature President of the World Nuclear Association Agneta Rising (WNA), Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Alexander Bychkov, President of the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum Takuya Hattori and others.

The agenda will include financing for construction of nuclear power plants, international legal regulations for the nuclear energy sector, experience in handling spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.

Leading Russian and foreign companies will participate in the exhibition, which will feature suppliers of equipment and services, construction companies, IT and consulting companies and special media. The exhibitors include Russia’s Rosatom and its branches, as well as Rolls-Roys, Electicite de France and others.

The annual event’s organiser is Rosatom. The first forum was organised in 2009. This year, the forum and exhibition will continue the work through to June 11.
