More than 7,000 houses remain partially flooded in Siberia
The Altai region remains the hardest hit with 45 settlements and almost 21,000 people affected by flooding
MOSCOW, June 04. /ITAR-TASS/. More than 7,000 houses, home to about 22,000 people, remain partially flooded in Siberia, sources from the National Crisis Center of the Russian Emergencies Ministry (EMERCOM) told ITAR-TASS on Wednesday.
Five more settlements have been trapped in flood water over the past 24 hours, while the number of affected houses has not changed. “A total of 65 settlements, more than 7,100 residential buildings in which more than 21,900 people live, are partially flooded in the Altai region, the republic of Altai and Khakassia as of Wednesday morning,” the source said.
The Altai region remains the hardest hit with 45 settlements and almost 21,000 people affected by flooding.
As for the republic of Altai, 96 houses that are home to 315 people are partially flooded in one settlement, and also 22 car bridges and five pedestrian bridges remain partially submerged.
Nineteen settlements are affected by flooding in Khakassia, with 269 residential buildings in which more than 700 people live partially flooded. Spring flooding has also damaged two highway sections and more than 800 private land plots.
The high water has receded in the republic of Tyva, but two car bridges were damaged there, EMERCOM sources said.
