Crimea expects massive inflow of refugees from eastern Ukraine
SIMFEROPOL, June 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Crimea is expecting some 2,000 refugees from war-torn south-eastern Ukraine shortly, an official told ITAR-TASS.
"As of now, the republic's self-defense has accommodated about 1,000 displaced persons from Ukraine, and another 600 have been accommodated by Crimea's Council of Ministers," chairwoman of the State Council's permanent commission for interaction with supervisory law-enforcement bodies Lyudmila Lubina said, adding that the leadership of the Luhansk People's Republic had officially requested Crimean authorities to provide accommodation for 600 more people.
"The flow of refugees to Crimea from Ukraine's south-east is continuing unabated. They come through arrangements, or on their own, or chaotically," Lubina added.
She said local authorities had been coordinating the efforts of police, self-defense, and the sanitary and epidemiology service to handle the refugee inflow situation.
