Russia-Crimea airline traffic in June up to 60 flights per day
In May, Russian air carriers transported more than 158,000 passengers between mainland Russia and Crimea - four times more than in the same period last year
MOSCOW, June 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Crimea’s main airport in Simferopol has increased the number of turnaround flights from 43 to 62 per day, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) reported.
On Sunday, Russian airlines transported 7,425 passengers to the Crimean Peninsula and 2,894 backwards. Passenger throughput in the first day of summer climbed to almost 7,500 persons.
In May, Russian air carriers transported more than 158,000 passengers between mainland Russia and Crimea - four times more than in the same period last year.
“Almost 87,000 passengers came to Simferopol and more than 71,000 flew back,” a Rosaviatsiya spokesman said.
Passenger transportation through the Simferopol international airport reached 84,879 people in April and 15,920 in March.
Rosaviatsiya statistics shows that Russian airlines transported nearly 258,800 passengers to the Crimean Peninsula and back since Crimea's reunification with Russia in mid-March.
Over entire last year, nearly 600,000 passengers were transported by Russian airlines to and from Crimea.
