MOSCOW, May 30. /ITAR-TASS/. Officers of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) have detained members of Ukraine’s Right Sector terrorist group in the Republic of Crimea, the agency reported on Friday.

“The group plotted terrorist attacks in the cities of Simferopol, Yalta and Sevastopol, and later on they planned to destroy several facilities, railway bridges and electricity lines,” the source said.

The Federal Security Service added the authority’s “Investigative Department has been working on the criminal case against O. Sentsov, S. Afanasyev, A. Chirniy and A. Kolchenko, who are suspected of setting up a terrorist community.”

FSB says that overnight to May 9, the terrorist community planned to stage an explosion near the Eternal Frame monument and the monument to Lenin in Simferopol, and set on fore at offices of Crimea’s Russian community and the United Russia Party in Simferopol on April 18 and 19.

“As we searched the places where the participants in the terrorist community lived, we found and confiscated explosives, guns, ammunition, canisters with incendiary mixtures, construction helmets (similar helmets were used in riots in Kiev’s Maidan), respirators, gas masks, tinned paint, nationalistic attributes,” the source said.

“The suspects confirm the Right Sector’s representatives have been involved in staging terrorist attacks in the territory of Crimea to destabilize the social and political situations there and to make Russia decide Crimea should be separated from the Russian Federation.”
