Partnership between Russia and Turkey can serve example for all — Lavrov
MOSCOW, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. Partnership between Russia and Turkey may serve as an example for all, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said after the 4th meeting of the Russian-Turkish Joint Strategic Planning Group on Tuesday.
Lavrov admitted that Russia and Turkey had different views on the crises in Syria and Ukraine. “However, the fact that partners are ready to listen to each other is much more important than complete unanimity,” the Russian foreign minister went on to say.
“Our relations with Turkey are a good example for all. With all the differences and nuances in our approaches we can discuss Syria, Ukraine and any other situation where our interests meet,” Lavrov stressed.
“We can be engaged in a professional discussion resorting to facts rather than to slogans. Apart from insisting on each other’s rightness we are ready to perceive the position of our partners and are ready to correct ours,” the Russian foreign minister emphasized.
He added that partnership was very different from what exists in Euro-Atlantic structures where everybody is supposed to do what they are ordered to do.
“That is what makes Russian-Turkish interaction so valuable,” Lavrov noted.
