MOSCOW, May 27. /ITAR-TASS/. A member of the Federation Council upper house of Russia's parliament said the presidential election in Ukraine does not mean that legitimate authorities have emerged in that country.

“The way the election was announced and organized belies the legitimacy of the president-elect, taking into account the fact that there is a civil war going in the country at present," Andrei Klishas, chairman of the Federation Council committee on constitutional legislation and state development, told reporters on Tuesday.

Ukraine held the presidential election on May 25. Updated reports said presidential hopeful Petro Poroshenko was a clear leader with slightly more than 54% of votes. Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was second with 13% and Oleh Lyashko third with just over 8%
