MOSCOW, May 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The Kremlin has refuted mass media reports on plans to appoint an ombudsman for issues concerning the internet. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for President Vladimir Putin, said this on Friday.

Peskov said that he first learnt about the news from media and could not confirm the information. He said that Putin tries not to use the internet excessively.

Russia’s Izvestiya daily reported earlier that the government was studying an idea of creating a position of the Internet ombudsman. The newspaper said, citing a government source that the official will be in charge for holding negotiations with the Internet floors and be in charge for the industry.
