Russia-Iran cooperation to continue despite turbulence over Iran — Putin
SHANGHAI, May 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that cooperation between Russia and Iran will continue despite what he described as turbulence over Iran.
“I proceed from the understanding that we shall be able to go ahead with this work despite any turbulences in international relations and over Iran,” Putin said at a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures.
Putin recalled that Russia and Iran remained good neighbors and old-time reliable partners. “We have carried out a number of major projects. There are some other opportunities,” Putin said.
He stressed Russia’s and Iran’s great common responsibility for the situation in the Caspian Region.
