MOSCOW, May 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian anti-submarine warplanes Tupolev Tu-142 have made a planned flight over the southern part of the Sea of Okhotsk, the press service of the Eastern Military District told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

“This was a planned flight over the southern part of the Sea of Okhotsk,” the military district’s press service said in comments on the Japanese Defense Ministry’s statements.

It was reported earlier in the day that fighters of Japanese Air Self-Defense Force were lifted Wednesday to intercept two Russian warplanes which had approached to the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. These warplanes turned around at Tsushima Strait and set on the return course.

The country’s air space was not violated, the Japanese Defense Ministry noted.
