This visit “will undoubtedly lead to new great results in the Russian-Chinese relations,” he said.

The academician noted that the two countries’ positions had moved closer on most vitally important problems of world politics and world economy.

“This refers also to the problem of a profound crisis in Ukraine,” he said. “Beijing demonstrates understanding of the Russian policy and actually supports Russia in many ways,” Kokoshin added.

At the same time, “the current US administration accelerates by its actions in response to the Ukrainian crisis and a number of other crisis situations the erosion of the United States’ position as a single superpower,” Kokoshin said.

Russia and China “firmly demonstrate a policy in the international arena which is independent of the superpower in the person of the United States,” he added. “Multi-faceted cooperation between Russia and China definitely works for stabilization of international relations and democratization," the academician said.
