MOSCOW, May 20. /ITAR-TASS/. Russian ombudsperson Ella Pamfilova has urged the population not to set grass on fire in a bid to prevent the spread of forest fires.

"The summer is hot this year, we suffer from forest fires every year, but nothing has been done to prevent them. Why not plead to the population on federal television in every news program, asking them not to set grass on fire, warning that otherwise, their own children might fall victim tomorrow," Pamfilova said.

"We should learn to go beyond conventional realization of human rights and take preventive steps to help avert the causes which might lead to the violation of human rights in any field," the ombudsperson said, explaining her concern over a hazardous fire situation.
