SIMFEROPOL, May 14. /ITAR-TASS/. Crimea is ready to offer humanitarian aid to southeastern Ukraine, the acting head of the republic, Sergey Aksyonov, told reporters on Wednesday.

He said the Crimean authorities were closely watching the developments in the largely Russian-speaking Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

“Crimea will support people. We were in the same situation, but luckily for us we passed through it without losses. But it happened so that people there have to hold the line and fight for their lives,” the head of Russia’s new entity said. “Of course we will be offering humanitarian aid to the extent possible, sending foodstuffs, articles of daily necessity,” he added.

The chairman of the Crimean State Council, Vladimir Konstantinov, said for his part that the state of Ukraine the way Crimean residents knew it, has ceased to exist. “Now this is a territorial entity that is trying in every way to become legitimate,” he said.

“But this is an aggressive entity, trying to legitimize itself not through a dialogue. That is why, the initiative of the regions is their means of survival,” he added.
