Canada extends list of Russians falling under sanctions over Ukraine
The sanctions envision the freezing of bank accounts and a ban on getting Canadian entry visas
OTTAWA, May 13 /ITAR-TASS/. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper on Monday announced an extension of the list of Russian and Ukrainian citizens whom Canada imposed sanctions on in connection with the crisis in Ukraine.
He said the international community would continue putting pressure on Russia until it took measures to defuse the tensions in the neighboring former Soviet republic.
The new entries to the list are the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerassimov, the Governor of the Federal City of Sevastopol, Sergei Menyailo, the Minister of the Crimea, Oleg Savelyev, State Duma deputies Lyudmila Shvetsova and Sergei Neverov, the member of the upper house of Russian representing Crimea, Olga Kovitidi, the commander of the self-defense of Slavyansk, Igor Strelkov, the leader of the Lugansk Guard, Andrei Purgin, a spokesman for the leadership of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Denis Pushilin, a spokesman for the Army of the Southeast, Valery Bolotov, and the commander of the People’s Guard of the Donbass Coalfields area, Sergei Tsyplakov.
