Lavrov urges OSCE chairman to use powers for release of mil inspectors
MODSCOW, May 3 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has urged the OSCE chairperson-in-office, Swiss President Didier Burkhalter, to use his powers for soonest release of the military specialists from OSCE countries who are detained in Slavyansk.
The Russian minister had a telephone talk with Burkhalter.
As was noted, Slavyansk leaders were ready to hand over the European military specialists to the Russian president's envoy Vladimir Lukin.
Burkhalter said he would immediately take steps to ensure cooperation with Ukrainian servicemen who controlled all the entrances to Slavyansk and the exits.
The Russian ministry noted it would be seen whether Kiev was really ready to make practical steps to deescalate the situation in southeastern Ukraine.
