Death toll of drug addiction clinic fire rises to 7 in West Siberia Altai territory

BARNAUL, April 27. /ITAR-TASS/. The seventh person was found dead in debris cleanup after a fire at a drug addiction rehabilitation centre in Kosikha district of south-eastern West Siberia’s Altai territory, the regional emergency situation department said.

“Six people who were injured are undergoing treatment at the central district hospital. They are being given medical aid,” the regional emergencies department added.

A one-storey building where the rehabilitation centre was located was built of slag blocks with wooden ceilings. The fire broke out on Sunday morning. The building roof has fallen on an area of 200 square metres.

Emergency workers, police, employees of the emergency situation control centre and detectives are working at the fire site. A criminal case is about to be opened, the regional investigation department of the Russian Investigative Committee said. The debris removal continues at the fire site.
