Tank crews of Russia's Western Military District Wednesday took part in a tank biathlon competition at the Kamenka training range in the Leningrad Region.

Tank biathlon was invented by the Russian military. The first tank competition with participating crews from Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Armenia took place outside Moscow in the summer of 2013. The competitions is considered a new method of training the troops and one of the ways to check the skills of tank crews required for fulfilling combat tasks in conditions of modern warfare.
