"Isolation has never done anyone any good," Russia's minister of foreign affairs said

MOSCOW, April 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Attempts to isolate Russia are absolutely futile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on Monday.

“I believe it is impossible to isolate us,” Lavrov said after talks with his Mozambican counterpart Oldemiro Baloi.

“Firstly, we are a big and independent power. We know what we want. Secondly, most the countries in the world are against Russia’s isolation and won’t join in these attempts,” he said.

“Calls for isolating Russia are not new. They are also coming from certain European states, particularly those that would like the whole European Union to adopt this view,” Lavrov said.

But “we can also hear more reasonable, more objective and more sober voices in the EU,” he added.

“Isolation has never done anyone any good. While attempting to isolate different countries and governments in various situations they after all had to begin talks with those whom they were trying to isolate,” Lavrov said.
