Putin: Presidential election in Ukraine will not be legitimate
"However, we did not give up contacts with anyone," the Russian President Vladimir Putin
MOSCOW, April 17./ITAR-TASS/.Speaking at his annual Q&A session, the Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Presidential election in Ukraine will not be legitimate as the country has current president.
Compromise on Ukraine must be found not between Russia and the US, but among political forces in Ukraine, he noted. Putin is ready to work with all parties to the elections in Ukraine, including Poroshenko and Tymoshenko.
According to him, the authorities in Ukraine are illegitimate, but Russia does not refuse the dialogue.
"We think the authorities are not legitimate, and they can not be so, they do not have a national mandate to govern the country. However, we did not give up contacts with anyone," said Putin.
"Our ministers have relations with Ukrainian colleagues. Dmitry Medvedev talked with Arseny Yatsenyuk and (Chairman of the State Duma ) Sergei Naryshkin talked to Oleksandr Turchynov," said the president of Russia.
