The president noted that relations between Russia and China would be a major factor of international policy

MOSCOW, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin says the relations of trust and cooperation between Russia and China, including those on approaches to international problems, are at an unprecedented level.

“As for our relations with China’s People’s Republic, they develop successfully and are at an unprecedentedly high level - both at the level of trust and the level of cooperation. I mean also the political sphere, our common approaches to estimations of international situations and to security in the world,” he said during a Q&A session on Thursday.

The president added Russia and China “are natural neighbors” and thus they are also “natural partners”. Putin stressed Russia would develop cooperation with China. Russia’s trade turnover with China is almost thrice as big as that with the US.

Putin stressed many experts said that in the economic aspect China had been developing as the world’s leading country.

“The question is only in time. When? In 15 years, or in 20, 25 years,” Putin added.

The president noted that relations between Russia and China would be a major factor of international policy.

Meanwhile, Putin added that Russia was not considering a military-political union with China, as bloc system is outdated.

“We are not considering organisation of any military-political union (with China)… The world’s bloc system is outdated,” he said during a Q&A session on Thursday.

Putin continued saying NATO had been organised against the USSR and the East European countries, and the Warsaw Treaty Organisation.

“Later on, the USSR ceased its existence, but NATO remained. We are being told: it is changing, it is becoming rather a political organisation… Against whom NATO is aimed? Where is it expanding towards our borders, why?”

Speaking about the relations with China in the military sphere, Putin stressed they were most trustful, as never before.

“We have been organising joint military exercises in the sea, on the land; both in China and in the Russian Federation. Thus we may suppose the Russia-China relations will become a major factor of the international policy and will influence most sufficiently the modern architecture of the international relations,” Putin said with confidence.
