Russia urges Kiev to provide safety of honorary consulate in Chernihiv
Russia's honorary consulate in Chernihiv was attacked overnight to Monday
MOSCOW, April 15. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia urges Kiev to take necessary measures in order to provide secure conditions for normal operation of Russia’s honorary consulate in Chernihiv. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said this in a statement in connection with the attack on the honorary consulate on Monday, April 14.
“Once again we are receiving alarming messages from Ukraine,” the Russian diplomatic service noted. “Overnight to April 14, a group of outrageous young men in camouflage threw stones and pebbles at the entrance door of the office of Russia’s honorary consulate in Ukrainian city of Chernihiv; the plate with the name of the institution has been torn off and stolen, leaflets with offensive and obscene content were pasted up.”
“The consulate’s property has been damaged. The attackers escaped before private security and police came to the site,” the foreign ministry added.
“The continuing instability in Ukraine, rampancy of Russophobe extremism, lack of control over criminals raises serious concern,” the ministry noted.
“We urge local authorities to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents and ensure safe conditions for normal operation of the honorary consulate of Russia,” the foreign ministry stated.
