MOSCOW, April 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s new federal law on the entry into the Russian Federation is applicable to all foreigners who violate Russian migration laws and is not meant against Ukrainians, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

“Concerning the initiative of the director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s Consular Service Department to hold consultations with Russia over the ban on entry to Russia for Ukrainian citizens, we would like to say the following: as it is known, new norms of Russia’s federal law number 114-FZ On the Procedure of Exit from the Russian Federation and Entry into the Russian Federation date August 15, 1996 that came into force from January 2013 impose a three-year ban on entry to Russia for foreigners who violate Russian migration rules,” the ministry said. “Apart from this, foreigners who were numerously reported to violate these rules within one year, or who were brought to administrative responsibility for violating public order two or more times, or who faced administrative expulsion from the Russian Federation are banned to enter Russia for a term of five years.”

“Notably, these rules are applicable to all foreigners who violate Russian migration laws, and there is no discrimination against Ukrainians,” the Russian foreign ministry stressed.

“We think that migration-related matters should be a subject of talks between relevant agencies in Russia and Ukraine involving representatives from departments concerned of the two countries’ foreign ministries,” the ministry noted.
