Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov challenges US sanctions against Rossiya bank
Visa and Master Cards payment systems have blocked operations of four Russian banks, including Rossiya, linked to prominent Russian businessmen who became the targets of US sanctions against Russia
MOSCOW, April 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has opened a bank account at the Rossiya bank, Kadyrov said in his entry on the "Instagram" social website on Thursday.
"On March 24 I became a customer of this bank as I promised. From now on my salary will be remitted to a plastic bank card which is featured on this photo. The bank has been making transactions in the Russian national currency only and provides quick and efficient services to its customers," Kadyrov declared.
Kadyrov is confident of "great future" of the Rossiya bank. "I am confident that the West, imposing its "mouse" sanctions, has rendered an invaluable service to the bank," he said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin opened his bank account at the same bank.
Visa and Master Cards payment systems have blocked plastic cards of four Russian banks, including "Rossiya", linked to prominent Russian businessmen who became the targets of US sanctions against Russia imposed in connection with the situation in Crimea.
Since March 28 the Rossiya bank has been making transactions in the Russian national currency only.
