SIMFEROPOL, April 02. /ITAR-TASS/. Over 75,000 Crimeans have filed an application to Russia’s Federal Migration Service in order to receive Russia's national passport, the head of the service’s passport office, Fyodor Karpovets, told a news briefing in the CrimeaInform news agency on Wednesday.

“We have been issuing Russian passports for about two weeks and over 25,000 citizens have already received the document, but we still have quite a job to do”, he said, adding that only six people have applied for retaining Ukrainian nationality, though everybody was free to do so starting from the first days of Crimea’s reunification with Russia.

Karpovets said that the migration service opened 27 structural departments in Crimea and five more in the federal city of Sevastopol especially for those who wanted to retain their nationality.
