Crimea’s dependence on energy supply from Ukraine is felt from time to time

MOSCOW, March 24, 15:17 /ITAR-TASS/. Russian government will mull the Republic of Crimea’s possible link to Russia’s unified power grid across the Kerch Strait and creation of power generation capacities on the peninsula, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting over Crimea’s development in the Russian capital on Monday.

“As for electric power, there are several variants of Crimea’s connection to Russian unified power grid across the Kerch Strait or construction of power generating facilities on the peninsula. All these variants should be considered, moreover, quite quickly. A quite good potential exists for this,” the prime minister said.

According to Medvedev, Crimea’s dependence on energy and water supply from Ukraine is felt from time to time. “Certainly, this issue should be settled in international talks, but we should choose the optimal way of supplies on the peninsula,” Medvedev said.
