Possible sanctions won’t cause much damage to Russia, Liberal Democratic Party says
“Who has given them this right?” Vladimir Zhirinovsky asked, focusing on threats to exclude Russia from G8
MOSCOW, March 12. /ITAR-TASS/. Possible sanctions against Russia were insulting, but in any case they would not cause much damage to Russia, Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky told reporters ahead of a lower house session on Wednesday.
Western countries and the US as well, depended on Russia, including on international security issues, he explained. “Sanctions are imposed in a decision of international agencies and are connected with some terrible events,” Zhirinovsky said. “Talking about sanctions when protection of people is involved, only barbarians can do this,” he added. According to him, “the United States is ready to back anyone just to make things lively for Russia. These are still Cold War vestiges,” he said.
“Who has given them this right?” he asked, focusing on threats to exclude Russia from G8. Russia could “just as well demand US expulsion from G8 - for bomb attacks on Yugoslavia, for Libya, for Afghanistan and so on,” he explained.
